UNDER THE STARS INTERNATIONAL MOVIE NIGHTS

Under the Stars International Movie Nights is East Somerville Main Streets' longest-running event, transforming a hidden parking lot into a movie theater for the whole community during the month of September.

The free event features films from around the world, reflecting the rich diversity of East Somerville. In past years, the cinematic classics of Central and South America, Europe, and Asia have been represented.

The community turns out for an open-air experience like no other found in the Boston area.  They enjoy movies being projected on to a screen, tucked away behind the historic fire station at the corner of Broadway and Cross Street. 

To kick off the fun, the evening has begun in some years with a street party featuring thematic music and food. Performers have included: Trio Elo, Carmen Spada, Alex Deras, and La Tejanita and the Texan Girls.

The event is organized by a committee of volunteers committed to sharing the cultural assets of East Somerville with everyone in the Greater Boston Area. If you’re interested in participating in the planning of this event, or have a movie suggestion, contact info@eastsomervillemainstreets.org.
